ZORA! Festival

Over the years, I’d worked with the organizers of the Zora! Festival, an annual event to honor the writer Zora Neale Hurston. I typically created the artwork for the media badges and sometimes e-newsletter graphics. However, around 2019, the organizers asked that I create branding for the festival. The theme was Afro-futuism. The artwork that I created was well received and became the branded look for the festival moving forward. I created a type treatment “logo” for the festival theme: multiverse.

My solution

  • Using the Festival’s existing red and orange ZORA! logo, I added text around the logo and built out versions of the logo in color, black and white.
  • After researching Afro Futurism, I decided to combine several images to create key art and I used this look throughout various ads and marketing graphics. I also provided the graphics and logos to the web developers and provided an idea for a web layout.
